Not my best writing, but some of my most necessary.

I still get chills thinking about this

One of the most surreal moments of my life happened four years ago.

It was the night of the ADDYs in St. Louis, which is an advertising awards ceremony that happens each year. I had only been in marketing for less than a month and was still overwhelmed by the fact that I was FINALLY out of working at places like Domino's Pizza and Starbucks.

I felt like I had made it, or at least, finally had an adult job, at the age of 32.

It had been a long struggle for me to break out of the fast food industry.

The moment came when I was attending this event in a hotel ballroom that was located in the area I had last delivered pizzas in. I was walking around with a drink in one hand, and soaking up the fact that I was a part of something like this when I happened to wander over by a window overlooking the street below. I look down and see the Domino's Pizza logo illuminating through the mist.

About two seconds later, the light drove off into the dark mist, and out of sight (presumably while on the top of a delivery car).

If I hadn't looked down at that moment, I wouldn't have seen it.

It was as if the universe was giving me a proverbial tip of the cap.

I get chills to this day, just thinking about it.

Of course, I realize life is random and it was just a helluva coincidence. But, the romantic (and dramatic) side of me wants to think it meant more.

I hope I never forget that moment or lose that chill.
